Performing
Last week, I was short on cash, so I entered my school's speech competition. First place finishes came with a prize of $50. You could only enter three events, which I did.
I won a hundred bucks. Mostly because no one else was competing. Sadly though, I won't see the money till May.
I will be performing a song in front of my entire school tomorrow. It's a song about the devil and an ex-girlfriend. No better way to pick up the ladies at a Christian college. I'm spiritual and heartbroken.
I'm a little nervous about performing in front of everyone. I don't do things like this often. I just hope it doesn't fall flat.
Right now, I'm researching for my big paper on defining the Short Story. I've attached an essay by Charles May if you're interested.

I read an essay about constructing sentences earlier, and this sentence was referenced:
In the misfortunes of our best friends we always find something not altogether displeasing to us.
It was referenced as an example of a sentence which implicates the reader in it's meaning. Did you think of a moment you were pleased at your friend's misfortune?
